Are you passionate about making a difference for people facing domestic abuse and have experience of delivering support services to them?  We are looking to recruit a passionate and driven individual with expertise in domestic abuse to support Rutland County Council’s response to their duties under the Domestic Abuse Act 2021. As the Domestic Abuse Support Worker, you will play a key role in ensuring support is in place for those experiencing domestic abuse and help to raise awareness across the county of all types of abuse and the support services available. 

About you….

  • Relevant experience in working with domestic abuse
  • An understanding of the signs of domestic abuse
  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to safeguarding children and adults
  • Knowledge of national policy context relating to homelessness and domestic abuse

About the role….

As the Domestic Abuse Support Worker, you will be responsible for supporting residents from a wide age range who have experienced domestic abuse and support them with housing, group work, practical advice and signposting to ensure that appropriate services are in place to meet their needs. Duties will include:

  • To appropriately assess service users using the DASH Risk Assessment Tool
  • To work collaboratively with other internal service areas, external agencies and partners
  • To refer clients to relevant services to provide wrap around support them with all needs
  • To provide specialist 1 to 1 support to children/young people and adults with complex needs

The domestic abuse programme is a new service at RCC and in this role you will be instrumental in supporting our work to achieve DAHA accreditation.

The successful applicant for this post will be subject to an enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The costs for the DBS are paid by us.

The Domestic Abuse Support Worker interviews will be held week commencing 23 May 2022.  Please be advised this could be subject to change, in which case we will give appropriate notice.
