Waste and Recycling Officer
Rutland County Council are seeking two Waste and Recycling Officers to work with the Waste Services Manager and external contractors maintaining the delivery of all the Council’s waste management contracts to the best possible standard.
The role includes a mixture of administration and operational duties; troubleshooting/investigating and resolving problems; communicating with residents, elected Members and contractors; working with other Council teams; identifying ways we can improve our waste management services and rolling out new projects and then overseeing them.
About you…
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
- Enjoy a hands-on role in a small team
- Can-do attitude with good communication and organisational skills
- Experience in customer service and/or administration
- Computer literate with a working knowledge of Outlook, Excel and Word
- Have an interest in waste management and the environment
About the role…
- Delivering a high-quality waste management service
- Overseeing household waste, recycling and garden waste collections, clinical waste collections, bulky waste collections and investigating abandoned vehicle cases
- Overseeing the running of the Council’s two HWRCs (Household Waste Recycling Centres)
- Carrying out recycling and waste reduction education, promotion and communication activities
- Rolling out then managing projects including any new collection schemes introduced
