Head of Virtual School
Permanent, 30 hours/week (0.8 full time equivalent)
Scale PO2, Salary £35,934 - £38,813, plus £4,000 market supplement pro rata
Who you are… A school leader or senior LA post-holder with experience of working across a range of educational settings, and an evidence-based passion for promoting the educational achievement of children and young people in the care of the Local Authority, or who have recently left care, and celebrating their successes. Confident and credible, you will support and challenge schools and strategic partners to secure the best possible educational outcomes for children looked after and previously looked after children. Bringing an enthusiastic and flexible approach, you will be able to gain buy-in to inspirational objectives through an excellent understanding of the social care and educational legislation pertinent to children in care, or who have recently left care, and will use your initiative and imagination to unblock significant barriers to the educational success of these children.
What we need from you… As an experienced school leader, you will make sure that the Local Authority duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of its children looked after and previously looked after is properly discharged. Excellent organisational, report writing and IT skills, with the ability to work under pressure, sometimes out of typical school hours, will be key to delivering this role.
